One day in Austria

What I’ve waited all year for: the vacation in Italy. On the way from my hometown to our destination we decided to stay the night in Fischl, Austria. Narrow-minded as I was, I thought it must be cold where mountains can be seen… and I hate coldness. Little did I know that this trip made me fell in love with Austria in just one day.
Of course I’ve seen those pictures but it was proven to me again: you need to feel the vibes and get to know the traditions. Pictures show you the landscape but to be present and enjoy the stay to the full is everything.

Don’t get me wrong! This is not Paris, Berlin, NYC… This is the countryside! The small town includes maybe 8 houses. But Fischl is just a part of Jenbach-Fischl which is not that small. Anyway, it’s not about the city life there. It actually is about the nature, the landscape and the wonderfully pure air. I woke up, went to the balcony and soaked in the view. There’s nothing better.

Since it was only a stop along the way we didn’t plan anything in advance. We drove to Achensee, a beautiful lake, and  hopped onto a boot.

The turquoise lake seemed to be in the wrong place between als these mountain, but was so perfectly right.

The magic that happened

Rain in the far distance, the rest of the sunset and dark clouds… The day was so sunny and gave no hint that the night would be that stormy.

Where to stay

We stayed in Rieder’s guest house in Fischl. The service is fine, everyone’s very nice and the location on a hill assures a beautiful view. It was very easy to find and near the highway.
