How about spicing up your run a bit? Do you get bored when just the thought of running pops into your mind? I created a HIIT workout that you can do instead of your daily morning run (just kidding, I don’t do it daily either). Anyways, you can integrate this workout into your day easily. It is a ‘running’ HIIT. The workout doesn’t contain any static exercises. You constantly move and by move I mean moving forward. As usual, a HIIT workout doesn’t take much time. There are no excuses, let’s get started.
60 sec jogging
30 sec walking lunges
60 sec jogging
30 sec fast side steps, turning your body towards the right
60 sec jogging
30 sec traveling squats
60 sec jogging
30 sec fast side steps, turning your body towards the left
60 sec jogging
30 sec walking lunges
60 sec jogging
30 sec high knee running
60 sec jogging
30 sec low and slow side steps, turning your body towards the right
60 sec jogging
30 sec knee-to-butt running
60 sec jogging
30 sec low and slow side steps, turning your body towards the left
60 sec jogging
30 sec high knee skips
This will mainly challenge your stamina. Prepare yourself to get really sweaty! But believe me, the burn will feel so great and you will feel so much more energized.
If you notice during the workout that it is too hard, then walk some seconds instead of jogging. The most important thing here is that you do not stand still. Keep going, keep moving! If you need a rest, then replace a jogging sequence with walking.
The HIIT workout is a bit challenging for the legs and the butt as well but the main focus is on the lungs, that’s why you shouldn’t stop jogging or walking.
